Detail of Lonesome Moon by Tameichi Wada, 1944.

Song of Annihilation of Enemy Fleets
Kigen 2603
For the Auspicious Occasion of Empire Day

Composed at Lordsburg Internment Camp, New Mexico
Melody: Pacific Ocean March

Tatsuya kaigun seiei ga
Rekka to moeru gunkanki
Asa no arashi ni nabikasete
Teki kantai o senmetsusu
Miyoya kagayaku sono isao

Our mighty naval force takes up the cause,
Like blazing flame our naval ensign
Fluttering in the morning storm,
Destroying the enemy fleet.
Look at its shining deeds.

Muteki kaigun hyaku ren no
Tetsu o tsuranuku ginyoku ga
Yūhi ni haete yuku tokoro
Tekikantai o semetsusu
Miyoya suntaru sono ikun

Our omnipotent navy can pierce
Even the finest tempered steel.
Silver wings shine in the setting sun
Destroying the enemy fleet
Look at it's brilliant achievement.

Akai sango no umi no soko
Kitaeshi ude ni utsu gyorai
Sensuikan wa gōzen to
tekikantai o senmetsusu
Miyoya homare no sono shuren

Red coral bottom of the sea
Shooting torpedos with trained arms
Our submarine goes thundering
Destroying the enemy fleet
Look at its honorable skill.
